New Blog!!

I love blogs.  I love to read blogs and write blogs.  Blogs are amazing.  They are a safe way to satisfy my need to see what other's lives are like without being creepy.  I am constantly inspired by everyone's blogs so it's my turn to have one just based on the day-to-day interests in my life. I will talk about media, social media, shopping, I-phone photography, vintage an estate sale shopping, and whatever else floats my boat.  Hopefully it will be interesting enough for people to read.  I will also write a lot because I love to write.  I try to be funny when I write so that people do not get bored but we'll see.  It might just be a journal for me.  I'll  start with some "about me," information.

Name: Paige

Age: 38--> but i act much younger than I thought I would at my age

Married to: Tony.  The cutest boy I ever met in high school, but we were reunited later in life.

Children: No. Probably never but if I change my mind I will adopt a little person.  Babies are intimidating.  I really like living with as little responsibility as possible.  My husband and I rent our house and do not have car payments.  The only major debt I have are my student loans.  I do however, dream of buying a fixer-upper and doing most of the renovations myself.

Pets: 2 cats and 2 dogs.  All rescues and all mysterious breeds.

Occupation:  Currently a dental assistant but always looking for something more.

Interests: Books, magazines, pescetarian food, T.V, vintage and thrift stores, animals and animal rights, nutrition, feminism and women's rights (yeah, there is a difference), different cultures and religions, writing, mental health, life, history, beauty products (a little obsessive).

Hometown: Portland, Oregon

Height: 5' 10"

Astrological sign: Gemini

Heritage: Icelandic, Norwegian, Croatian, German, Welsh, English and Canadian.  Third generation Portland, Oregonian.  My paternal great grandparents moved to the U.S from Canada and Croatia.  My Maternal great-grandparents moved to the U.S from Canada and Germany.  I love Canada and for some reason my paternal, maternal, great-grandfather decided to move his family from Saskatchewan to Portland.  My paternal Grandma was always resentful of that because all her family stayed in Canada.  My grandfather was an unsavory person so I am assuming he burned some bridges in Canada.  Anyway, I used to visit my Canadian relatives with my aunt when I was a teenager.  Hopefully I'll get to visit them again someday.  I have a really small family and aside from my brother in Portland we're all spread out.  My mom lives in Chicago and my dad passed away in a tragic accident-which I might talk about someday.  I also consider Chicago my second home even though my mom moved there when I was in my twenties.  Both my grandmother's are still alive.  My paternal grandma is 98 and my Maternal Grammy is 99.  My Maternal grandfather passed when he was 95, two days before my birthday.

Plans for my future:  Write a book or two.  My dad was a writer and he as a reporter for the Oregonian for thirty years.  Before he died he wrote and published two books.  I would like to write a book for young women to help empower them.  I am also interested in writing children's books that encourage children to love and respect animals.  Volunteer in a developing country, probably as a dental assistant.  Get my Masters degree or go to dental school.  Maybe someday a Phd.  Travel to Iceland and Germany, foster rescue chihuahuas.

Plans for my immediate future: practice more yoga, maintain a mostly vegan diet, obtain a good job at my current place of employment.

So, that's about it for now.  I have so many ideas already for what I would like to share.  I hope you enjoy my blog!
